Stephen Thomas Bartkowski, 82, of Windsor Connecticut, beloved husband for 59 years, of Geraldine (Pentore) Bartkowski died Wednesday January 21, 2016 after a long battle with Myelofibrosis. Steve was born in New Britain, CT, son of the late Stephen and Emily (Sztaba) Bartkowski. He graduated from New Britain High School, class of 51, and it is there that he met his wife. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean conflict era. He attended University of Hartford to become an electrical engineer. He worked at Royal typewriter and spent the majority of his career at Raymond engineering, now Kaman Aerospace, working as a production engineer on recording devices for the space program. Before moving to Windsor, the family lived in Kensington, CT. Steve had genuine warmth and always was ready to help others. In earlier days, he enjoyed skiing with his family and once settled in Windsor, hiking and exploring Northwest Park. He spent every summer since his boyhood at his favorite spot on Bashan Lake in East Haddam CT, a special place for him and his family. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Geri throughout the US, to many countries in Europe and cruising its great rivers. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Jayne Pearson and her husband Kirk and grandchildren Kelsey and Stephen of West Dover VT and Lynne Frick and her husband James and granddaughter Emily and step-granddaughter Sarah of Gloucester MA; his sister-in-law Lana Pentore; his niece Katie Pentore and nephew Chris Pentore. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Champowick.
